Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Who are Premier Insurance?

A. Premier Insurance is a family insurance brokerage registered as a limited company with the Financial Services Authority in United Kingdom.

Q. How do you compete with the large Internet Companies?

A. You have no doubt seen the large companies offering insurance through increasingly more prominent TV advertising. This level of advertising costs a small fortune, this must be taken into account within the cost of insurance provided to their customers. Premier Insurance has a very modest marketing spend and thus can provide you with a competitive insurance policy.

Q. I saw a cheaper quote for my insurance policy on the Internet.  Why is this?

A. Internet Brokers and Comparison sites display headline very attractive headline quotes. Beware of extras and surcharges that will only become visible once you have entered all your details. Also be aware of the level of cover you receive, cheaper insurance policies often do not provide the cover you want. As always, you do get what you pay for!

Q. Is my satnav or bluetooth kit covered under the car insurance?

A. Always worth checking and notifying the insurer as some insurers do not cover these items.  Some insurers impose restrictions in the value of a claim and some insist that you take all precautions to safeguard the equipment when you leave you car unattended.

Q. Do I have to pay extra for a "Green Card" or to have Comprehensive cover abroad?

A. Many insurers Premier deal with include a fair amount of European use in the price.  Our breakdown cover with Europ assistance includes European cover as standard and yes repatriation is included.

Q. Does it reduce my price if I take a higher excess?

A. It can do depending on the insurer. We can advise you of the various discount levels and recommend the best solution.  BEWARE of internet sites offering different levels of excess as sometimes they only mention the voluntary excess and expect you to look at the small print to find out the standard excess.  The voluntary excess is in addition to the standard and often applies to other sections of your policy.

Q. I have heard an advert saying that the chip in my windscreen is repairable for free by my insurer.

A. Most insurers do not charge you an excess for repairing a windscreen under your comprehensive policy, but you need to check the small print as to your replacement limit and excess.  Quite a few insurers reduce the limit if you do not use their approved repairers.  Please call us and we can give you advice.
